What is the vision for Design and Technology?
At Minworth we strive to offer all children a wide range of hands on experiences and learning opportunities. Children will develop the skills needed to enable them to think like engineers, designers and solve real life problems. Children are taught through carefully mapped out sequential lessons, which revisit and develop as children grow; enabling them to build upon prior skills and to develop their critical thinking.
Children will investigate and analyse design and technology in the wider world, and examine how products positively impact the people who use them.
How do we ensure it?
Throughout their topics, children will have access to a range of resources, materials and learning opportunities to consolidate their learning and skills. From EYFS to year 6, children will explore a different area of design technology including, food, mechanics, structures and textiles. The curriculum is enriched with enterprise opportunities throughout the year.
When our children leave primary education, they will have gained the skills to confidently research, plan, create, test and evaluate their own designs.
